10.29.06

Two evenings, dispersed in an hour and a half, and encapsulated in 42 seconds.

Crazy.

What's even more mind-blowing is that some cats begin it an hour before practice and then continue the chain of events.

Who does that?

Here's to the germophobes:

There are germs everywhere.

You can try all you can-- but they're going to constantly be around you.

And not all germs are bad, you know?

Some would say that it's a good thing to get sick, because your body naturally learns how to defend itself from future attackers, making your immune system stronger.

In fact, have you ever heard of bacterial flora?

There's a layer of bacteria that lives on your epidermis.

Yeah.

This is real.

It's there and it strives.

But it's not bad bacteria.

It's good bacteria.

They actually compete with malignant bacteria and germs for the ability to live there.

So be careful with all those antibacterial, microbial hoom-de-holla.

I'll tell you what...

You have to know that you're not a god or a goddess.

But you are a person.

An amazing person.

It's inherent within you.

And I'm not going to tell you that you're destined for great things--

but you're very capable of it.

You deserve the world.

Don't you ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

"This cat had the most gnarly acne you've ever seen. You could play connect the dots and create every constellation in existence on one cheek. It was sooo gnarly, you could play twister on his face! I kid you not."

Aren't kids silly?

Look, if you go through an experience, you gotta soak it up and take what you can from it--

good or bad.

You have to take that new knowledge and carry it with you as you move on.

'Cause if you don't, these experiences will lead your life--

and that's a sign that you're not loving yourself enough to direct your own life.

Loving yourself is key, because if you don't, you will never be comfortable with yourself, your surroundings or many things that are thrown at you.

If you're constantly asking or reminding yourself for a better life, you're already behind.

You don't have to make everyday worthwhile.

That's asking a lot.

But could it kill you to smile every now and then?

Psst... answer is no.

You gotta live at the speed of life.

My criteria for good smooth R&B music?

If, when listening to it, I feel like a badass--

it's definitely good stuff.

If, by listening to it, it puts you in a romantic mood for some slow grooving or vibing--

it's definitely good stuff.

If, when you wake up in the morning, it plays in your head and you think to yourself, "I'm going to do something beautiful today."--

it's definitely good stuff.

10.13.06

Hello, kiddies.

Today, I'd like to talk about social interactions.

Specifically, the social interactive tool known as "association".

You see, association is fine in limited usage as a way to, perhaps, introduce yourself or maybe boost the confidence of a friend.

As in, "Oh, let's just say that this kid has been my mentor for the past few years."

Or maybe even, "Hi. I'm a friend of..."

But never, under any circumstances, make it your main social weapon.

Though, you may not be an attention whore, the main reasoning behind social interactions is to make friends.

Basically, you're building a wall around your own personality because all you can do is liken yourself to others and their relationship with you.

Not so bueno.

And on top of that, you may irritate those your are praising.

You dig?

On a lighter note, try-outs went well, were successful and damn fun.

I haven't spoken or led a crowd in a very long time.

It's good to be back.

And remember kids:

"Well open up your mind and see like me.
Open up your plans and damn you're free.
Look into your heart and you'll find love, love, love.
Listen to the music of the moment, maybe sing with me.
I like peaceful melody.
It's your God forsaken right to be loved, loved, loved, loved, loved."

10.05.06

I've realized that I live everyday like it's a weekend.

I don't look at the week as busy weekdays full of classes and look forward to a relaxing weekend.

I live everyday as if it's a saturday full of errands.

I don't do work. I show up and run my tasks and then relax and do homework/reading whenever I want.

I don't work well with deadlines, I just get my stuff done.

I generally just don't think that far ahead, I guess.

I'm also a bum.
