01.19.06

So, you know how most people like to watch TV or a movie with the lights off?

It's a perfectly natural thing--

Something that gives off light, it just looks better when it's contrasted with the dark.

Admit it, you do it too.

Well, recent studies show that it's actually bad for your eyesight.

It's bad for you, and now you know.

But what are the chances that you're going to watch with the lights on all the time?

Point taken, it turns out that there are many in this world who live in this way.

There's something deep inside that haunts them, emitting a faint glow far in their psyche.

What caused this spark, this little flare of despair, could have been anything--

witness to a tragedy, rejection from something that was important to them.

Whatever it was, it stirred something within that person, creating situations in which they could not let go.

And even though they may realize that feeding this tiny nuke will inevitably lead to their demise, they continue to give it attention, pouring salt into the wound.

It's not that they may not want to--

it's just insanely difficult.

Insecurities and fears put people in chokeholds and submission is the most common reaction.

One may want to help these people, but it's not that easy.

It's hit or miss.

You can only lift someone so much before they reach the top of the hurdle, wall or obstacle.

You may have the strength to push them over the top, but you don't want to do that.

That's aggressive and could lead straight into the cycle once more.

These people have to turn on the light switch for themselves.

I totally understand if one could care less.

"They're stuck in their own self-loathing. They're just seeking pity. Let them deal with it."

I just wonder what could have possibly sparked that attitude.

Seeking attention? They may be.

But that doesn't mean that they shouldn't be helped if they can be.

Even if it isn't serious, it could.

I've seen it happen too many times.

Just get over it.

If only it were that easy sometimes.

Docking out...
